-- Scene -- A large table surrounded by sever chairs in a government building. The room is dimly lit. Sitting at the table are three rihannsu men. One is older and at the head of the table. He is dressed in the ceremonial garb of the Fvillha. The other two were dress military uniforms. -- Begin Log -- Liarrna says "Please be certain all communicators are closed." Salkin nods, checking his briefly. Khell checks his comm briefly Liarrna says "I do not expect the Galae'Enriov to be joining us, as we are at war as you know." Salkin nods. Liarrna says "This meeting will primarily deal with our strategims." Khell nods Liarrna says "We will start with the Ikarans." Liarrna says "Khre'Riov, would you care to report on the mission staged a few days past?" Salkin nods. "Ie, lhhai." and stands to speak. Salkin says "As the ships undocked to embark on the search/destroy mission against the Ikarans, both vessels and the starbase detected a massive anomaly forming at an indeterminate location." Salkin says "The approximate location was eventually established, and the galae'Enriov ordered us to break off the mission to investigate the anomaly. Both vessels proceeded at high cruise speed to the location of the anomaly." Khell leans back, and watch Salkin with an iterest in his eyes Salkin says "Once we entered the sector, in which a star system was located which we had previously explored, we determined the anomaly to be a wormhole-like phenomenon. It grew and subsided twice before disappearing completely, and an anomaly on the planet surface was detected with a new matrix forming." Salkin says "This anomaly was a vortex, which had previously been explored somewhat. This vortex could transport people across the galaxy; it would switch destinations frequently. We sent two people through unharmed on a previous exploratory mission." Salkin says "At about this point, the Llaudh was forced to leave from a lack of crew. The Valoth sent an investigation team to the surface of the planet... an Erein t'Rulahna was isolated from the rest of the party from falling into an hole leading underground." Khell khmms Salkin says "Above, the Valoth detected an incoming Ikaran missile.... approximately the size of a destroyer, with an enormous antimatter warhear. It was heading for the star of the system." Salkin says "All accessible members of the landing party were beamed back up, but the Erein was isolated by having lost contact with the ship, and remained on the surface. The Valoth proceeded to try and intercept the missile; however, its pilot, an Ikaran, used its mind to fend off all such attempts." Salkin says "The Valoth flew off at maximum warp while the missile struck the star, causing it to go supernova. The system was virtually or completely destroyed." Salkin says "We later learned that the Erein had managed to escape through the vortex on the planet, in the last minute. She was in a hospital on Gorwah, badly injured. After picking her up and giving her additional medical care, she was able to report her findings..." Liarrna listens intently. Salkin says "The vortex had a new destination, apparently the Ikaran home world." Salkin says "Or a world inhabited by Ikarans, at any rate." Salkin says "This about sums up the events during and following the mission. We speculate that the Ikarans may have destroyed the system due to the newly-formed link to their world, which they did not wish us to access." Liarrna says "Erei'Riov, do you have anything to add?" Salkin sits. Khell leans forward Liarrna sits back, pondering the situation. Khell says "Not Any important. I have to correct the khre'Riov in one thing. The planet which destroyed was covered with dense foliage. The erein falled downward under this foliage, wich mettalic content don't allow the transporter beams throught, thats why the Erein had been separated. And..." Salkin says "I never said that was not the case - I merely left the detail out." Khell says "And as I analised the the situation, We don't have to fear the Ikarans manafged to get a superior technology than us,with which they can destroy star sytems. As I think that could be done with their less advanced technology also. They destroyed the star, becouse they level of technologi that were more esaier than bloww up a planet." Salkin nods. Khell nods to Salkin Liarrna says "hmm." Liarrna says "Anything else?" Khell shakes his head "No Fvillha" Salkin shakes his head. "I have nothing to add which falls under this subject, lhhai." Liarrna says "Then let us analyze the situation." Liarrna says "We have a race with psionic talents that we cannot hope to withstand." Liarrna says "Their technology is more primative than ours, but still capable of destroying star systems." Jevarro steps in through the open door. Jevarro has arrived. Liarrna says "They have the resources at their desposal to ..." Khell says "As we do " Jevarro says "Jolan'tru" Jevarro salutes Liarrna says "Jolan'tru." Salkin nods. "Jolan'tru." Liarrna falls silent, waiting. Jevarro steps out through the Corridor door. Jevarro has left. Liarrna says "They have the resources to create these emmense weapons, and throw them away." Liarrna says "They may have access and an understanding of these rift-gateways..." Liarrna says "Although the nearest one that we are aware of has been eliminated." Salkin nods. Khell nods Liarrna says "tr'Relliael-thra'ein, do you have any hypotheses regarding the Ikarans social structure, ecology, or homeworld?" Khell says "no fvillha, we only know they looks like, and that they live in an Undervorld society, if Rein tr'Rulahna is right." Liarrna says "Underworld. Hmm." Khell says "we were unable to find their homeworld in this part of galaxy." Liarrna says "So far." Liarrna says "Is there a limit to the distance the rift-gateway can reach?" Salkin says "None that we've been able to determine, Vriha." Khell says "we followed onnce their probe course back, but we find nothing. Although they seems to come from the part of this galaxy above us." Liarrna says "Could they be from intergalactic space?" Liarrna says "Or even another galaxy?" Salkin says "We have yet to see any evidence of drive technology allowing them to operate from that far away." Liarrna nods. Khell nods Liarrna says "so it is your opinion they arrived via conventional warp?" Salkin says "Unless the large wormhole-like anomaly forming above the planet Sssssshrrrk was some kind of travel method." Liarrna says "And that is what I fear to be the case." Khell nods Liarrna says "However, we can only hope that the wormhole requires a gateway at both ends." Salkin nods. Khell nods Liarrna says "Is it possible they can cloak their homeworld with their minds?" Salkin blinks. "I think that would take a joint effort from many of them, lhhai. They would have to block it out of everyone's minds." Liarrna says "Joint effort. Ie." Khell says "It's looks like they only can force humanoids, to do something. But they cannot alter what they see." Liarrna says "I am of the opinion that they require augmentation to be as affective as they are." Liarrna says "Meaning technology." Liarrna says "And technology can be undermined." Salkin nods. "We believe that they have a limited range for their mind abilities." Liarrna says "True thought has no limit, at least in theory. That would indicate a transmitter of some sort." Salkin hmms. "Well, lhhai.... perhaps.... but the Vulcans have a limited range for their mind abilities as well, and they do not use any form of transmitters." Liarrna strokes his chin, "Hmm. I see." Liarrna says "Any ideas on how to combat them?" Salkin says "I believe the issue of asking for help from the Tholian Hegemony has already been brought up..." Liarrna fidgets in his chair. Liarrna says "I do not feel asking any of the other empires for assistance will greatly benefit us." Salkin says "I am no happier than you about trusting them like that, Fvillha. But they would be working toward the same goal as us.... the Ikarans are a threat to all shipping." Salkin says "Then there is the idea of using the prefix control strategy we never got the opportunity to use on last week's mission." Khell nods Liarrna says "Very well." Khell says "there also the option to fight with them with owerwhelming force" Liarrna says "I am considering opening trade negotiations with the Orions." Salkin nods at this with an expression of satisfaction. Khell says "the Orions?" Liarrna says "If they have a class ship that is nearly as fast as a scout, requiring very little crew..." Liarrna says "The empire would do well to acquire them." Liarrna says "Ie." Salkin says "Ie, erei'Riov. We're interested in their runabout class vessels... and I have heard they have some interesting ship systems upgrades for sale." Liarrna says "If this is so, an economic summit could be very useful." Salkin nods. Khell says "If the futhure of the Empire depend on it." Liarrna says "for the economy, for defense, and for evaluating the Orion threat." Liarrna says "I have no real notions of trading with the Orions. But if they have what we need, we need to acquire it somehow." Salkin nods. Liarrna says "Even if it means impounding their vessel for 'biological' scans temporarily." Salkin smirks ever so slightly. Liarrna says "Which I believe is permissible even under Nimbusian law, Ie?" Salkin says "I am not certain, Fvillha. But I believe so." Liarrna nods. Liarrna says "On a more positive note, I'd like as many praetors as possible to be present this weekend." Salkin says "I'm afraid I may be unable to attend, lhhai." Liarrna nods. -- End Log --
