This is a picture of the Tholian's home planet, Tholia. If you look closely near the top of the picture, you can see the great dome (known as the "SolarNet") that covers the main city, Tholia City. There is another artist's depiction of Tholia in the TOS TrekMUSE Stellar Bodies Gallery.
This is a picture of the great Tholian Starbase, THSB Resonance. In this particular picture, the Federation Starship USS Excelsior is seen leaving the Resonance. For centuries, this great starbase was the only place foreigners to the Tholian Hegemony could go in Tholian Space. The starbase was developed to have two purposes: a Military Outpost on the Tholian Border, and a Diplomatic/Trading Center for use by all the empires of the Alpha Quadrant. This dual-purpose led to the design of Resonance in that its upper half is a Military Outpost, and its lower half the Diplomatic/Trading Center with the two halves separated by a Docking Center.
